Pernod Ricard has launched the first vodka naturally infused with caviar, as it aims to create a new category of luxury white spirits.

The result of five years of research and development, L’Orbe Vodka x Caviar enhances the individual characteristics of the two ingredients.

Developed by Pernod Ricard’s Breakthrough Innovation Group, L’Orbe combines Dankowski Diamond rye vodka with spicy and soft notes, and a Royal Baeri caviar, with buttery notes and a creamy texture.

With its patented infusion technology, L’Orbe reportedly combines ingredients that would otherwise be possible using a technique without any chemical stabilisation, aromatisation or additives preserving the natural integrity of the rare ingredients.

According to Pernod Ricard, it creates a new way to improve white spirits by bringing intensity and complexity without ageing.

The drink can be drunk as a cocktail, martini twist, or pure with caviar of seafood.

L’Orbe Vodka x Caviar has been released across hospitality scenes since the end of last year but is now available at La Maison du Whiskey for $134 and at Fortnum & Mason for $115.
