Actor Ryan Reynolds is donating 30% of online sales of Aviation Gin to the United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) to support on-trade members affected by coronavirus.

The USBG and the  USBG National Charity Foundation are currently raising funds to provide financial support for industry workers who have lost income due to the covid-19 pandemic through the Bartender Emergency Assistance Program.

Taking to Twitter yesterday (24 March), the Deadpool star said: “Until May 1st, for every bottle of Aviation Gin ordered online, we’ll donate 30% of proceeds as a tip to your bartenders – who really miss you btw.”

The gin brand, which Reynolds acquired in February 2018, also said on its website that it had started a tab of US$15,000 for the USBG.

Aviation American Gin is priced at US$33 in the US per 750ml and is available to buy online from Reserve Bar, Drizly, wine.com, Total Wine & More, Minibar and Caskers.

Multiple spirits firms have played their part in supporting the drinks industry through the coronavirus pandemic. Jameson Irish whiskey donated US$500,000 to help bartenders in the US, Bolivian spirit singani63 donated US$25,000 to the USBG, and Skrewball whiskey pledged US$100,000.

Other companies that have also made substantial donations include Bacardi, Beam Suntory, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Diageo and Campari Group.
