The Paper Plane is a cocktail as simple as it is perfect. It has earned a place in the new IBA 2020 recipe book by being part of the “New Era Drinks”.
The history of the Paper Plane
It was invented in 2007 by Sam Ross, the creator of Penicillin cocktail and co-owner of the Attaboy in New York. Paper Plane takes its name from the song by the British rapper M.I.A. who in the same year climbed the world music charts.
A music lover and aficionado of the singer, Ross, inspired by the song of the same name, created a cocktail with an incredible taste like whiskey sour with a hint of fruity notes.
Was this song M.I.A. inspiring or not, but the fame of the Sam Ross cocktail has time to fly all over the US bars, becoming the best-selling cocktail in New York and San Francisco, as well as gaining fame outside the United States.
Paper Plane cocktail recipe and preparation
In the original version, the cocktail contained Italian bitters, but Ross replaced them with Aperol and Amaro, which is now recorded in the recipe recognized by the IBA.
The Paper Plane included in the list of IBA official cocktails at Before Dinner category.
